And so it starts, week 2!
Week 1 was easier than what I thought! Got me starving a few times, specially evenings but other than that it was really good to be more aware of the nutritional information of what I usually eat!
78.3kg to 77kg... 173lbs to 170lbs
Goal for this week - get into the 75 range which means lost another 3lbs at least!

Weekend weekend 😥 Fim de semana fim de semana
The weekend can be the worst enemy of a diet! That's what I've found out this weekend (still managed to lose 100g but that's nothing! At least better that gaining)!
While at work my head is busy and I can easily forget I'm hungry! My weekends though have little to no activity which makes it so hard! Saturday evening I was literally in pain from how hungry I was! Had one of those weigh watchers icecreams that calmed it!
Another problem of the weekend is water intake. During the week I just keep 2 pints of water all the time on my desk and that makes me drink a lot and almost not noticing it. Not having this "routine" made me pretty much only drink during the meals!
And finally socializing! We had planned to go out with some friends on Saturday evening but because I had to eat before 7pm and only 200kcal I couldn't risk to leave the house and spend the night complaining how much I was starving! Sunday I had lunch as some friend's house. Took my lunch with me! Pretty embarrassing but they have understood !
In summary, weekend was a challenge!

Konjac - the secret / o segredo
I promised I was going to write about what was that rice and that spaghetti made of ! Here it is - Konjac!

Konjac is a plant that grows in Asia and that has many health and diet benefits! Wikipedia quote below :
" The dried corm of the konjac plant contains around 40% glucomannan gum. This polysaccharide makes konjac jelly highly viscous and may be responsible for many of its putative health benefits as used in traditional Chinese medicine, detoxification, tumour-suppression, blood stasis alleviation and phlegm liquefaction.
Konjac has almost no calories, but is very high in fiber. Thus, it is often used as a diet food. The Omikenshi Company has developed a process which mixes treated wood pulp with konjac; the resulting fiber-rich flour contains neither gluten nor fat, and almost no carbohydrates, and has just 60 calories a kilogram vis-à-vis 3,680 for wheat.
The dietary fiber from the corm of Amorphophallus konjac is used as a component of weight loss supplements. Konjac supplementation at modest levels has been shown to promote increased butyric acid through improved bowel flora ecology and increase bowel movements in constipated adults."
I've learnt through the years that Wikipedia is not the most reliable source so I went to do my own research where I know information is relevant - scientific papers! There are indeed several papers supporting the statement that there is a significant weight loss when using konjac which got me pretty optimist! I was happy using the anyway just more excited science supports it now !!!!

I had chocolate today. There it's out there now. Well better start from the beggining.
This morning I've weighed myself and got the same as yesterday. After the excitement of the milestone yerterday and to grab how consistent it was going BAM in my face to pull me back to reality. I have to admit I was expecting it. First had like 18g of sugar yesterday on those icecreams and then my period started. Bit of science on that:

I thought "right ok so if I am more careful today then maybe tomorrow I'll see something on the scale". Got tea instead of white coffee for breakfast and then my 109 prawn and "pasta" again. While cleaning the kitchen after lunch I found a bar of my favourite chocolate. I knew just there I had to do it I'm too weak to resist chocolate, not while on my period. Looked at the kcal : 600 on 100g which meant I could have 33g to "replace" a snack. I never thought I'd be weighting chocolate ... 36g, 218kcal. Tasted like heaven but it's making me feel soooo guilty :(

Day 4 - dinner / Jantar do dia 4
I think I'm losing my originality on my meals! Got the same turkey breast, crisps and salad again!
Surprise of the day was the fact I had an ice cream, TWICE! Weight watchers have this swirls with 80kcal which I had mid afternoon and then after dinner! My "week" of the month started today and that means I need sugar! Those ice creams are amazing for that ! As my lunch was quite low calory I could have 1 in the middle of the afternoon and after dinner ! Nhamie! Oh and btw this means I sort my need for sugar with 14g of carbs! Quite a lot as 9g are sugars but obly 80kcal total
Acho que estou a perder a originalidade nas minhas refeições! Voltei a comer o mesmo peito de peru, ""batatas fritas"" e salada novamente!
Surpresa do dia foi o facto de ter comigo gelado - DUAS VEZES! O weightwatchers tem um swirl de morango com 80kcal que comi a meio da tarde e após o jantar! A minha "semana" do mês começou hoje e isso significa que eu preciso de açúcar! Estes gelados são incríveis para isso! Como o meu almoço foi bastante baixo em calorias autorizei-me a comer um a meio da tarde e outro depois do jantar! Nhamie! Já agora suprimir esta necessidade de açúcar implicou ingerir 14g de hidratos sendo que 9g eram açúcar mas somente 80kcal no total

I know it is impossible but it would be SO cool if this was how it went every day until the wedding! I know it's not realistic or even good hahah that would be 30kg I would be over the moon with 10kg and totally crazy with 20kg!
Anyways, first milestone achieved! Hurray! 9 more milestones to go!

Eu sei que é impossível mas era tão fantástico que fosse assim todos os dias até ao casamento! Eu sei que não é realista, ou sequer possitivo hahaha seriam 30 kg e eu já ficava muito contente com 10Kg e totalmente doida se chegasse aos 20kg!

Day 3 - dinner / Jantar do dia 3
Finally have tried it!!!
As you have seen in my last post I've received my order from my protein today and of course had to try it straight away! Tonight I've tried the rice! Was a bit suspicious when I saw the bag. It's like this cold jelly bag almost like those you use for your headaches!!! Anyway, money was spent so had to give it a go! On the website it said it would go well with curry or sauce but I had nothing at home so I stir fried some chicken breast with mushrooms (which have surprisingly less calories than what I thought) and some olives - it was delicious btw!
So I washed the "rice" with cold water - will make a post another day about what are these replacements after all - a cooked in the microwave for 1min ! Done!
Even though it is slightly rubbery it has no specific taste and it is a pretty good side - went really well with my chicken! Definitely will keep using! Will try the spaghetti tomorrow!!

Finalmente experimentei !!!
Como viram na minha última publicação, recebi a minha encomenda da myprotein hoje e naturalmente tive que tentar imediatamente! Esta noite tentei o arroz! Fiquei um bocadinho de nariz torcido quando eu vi o saco. É como aqueles sacos de gel usamos para as dores de cabeça !!! De qualquer forma, o dinheiro estava gasto e por isso tinha de tentar! No website os comentários diziam que este arroz era bom a acompanhar caril ou algum molho mas eu não tinha nada em casa desse género, então salteei um peito de frango com cogumelos (que têm surpreendentemente menos calorias do que eu pensava) e algumas azeitonas - ficou delicioso já agora!
Lavei o "arroz" com água fria - vou fazer um post noutro dia sobre o que são estas substituições, afinal - e "cozi" no microondas durante 1min! Feito!
Mesmo que seja ligeiramente parecido com borracha não tem nenhum sabor específico e é muito bom acompanhamento - resultou realmente bem com o meu frango! Definitivamente vou continuar a experimentar! Vou tentar o esparguete amanhã !!

What is this diet after all? | Afinal que dieta é esta?
Disclaimer : I'm in no way at all an expert in diets but I have an health acabemic background and have spent quite a few years reading about this and following people that know what they are talking about! Still, just another girl, getting married in 3 months, that really needs to lose some weight!
So a few months ago I've bought the "book" with the Wedding dress diet which in summary is - 200kcal meals, not eating after 7pm, having a lot of water, first 3 days no carbs, one meal per week with high carbs if wanted, in case for some reason having eatten more that what we should, repeat the 3 days. It's pretty much this! It's a 12 week plan and the success stories are people that lose about 2 stones in these weeks! I "still" have 16 weeks until my wedding but still thought 'hey why not'! It's not even 4 months, too late to do this based on exercise!
My plan is, this first week getting used to the diet, next week start doing a bit of exercise and yes I intend to increase my kcal on the days I exercise!!!! Next Saturday I have a lunch at a friend's house so I'll go to the gym in the morning so then I can eat a bit more at lunch!
About the low carbs... I'm slightly worried with it as in theory when I stop the diet and I start to go back to "normal life" it may well be the case that I'll put all the weight back on and even more! The long term plan is that when I stop the more restrict diet I stick to some sense on most of my meals and I am on a regular exercise schedule! Maybe that way it can be this time that I effectively get my pre-univeristy body back!

É basicamente isto! É um plano de 12 semanas e as histórias de sucesso são pessoas que perdem cerca de 12kg nessas semanas! Eu ainda tenho 16 semanas até o meu casamento, mas ainda pensei "porque não"! Já não faltam nem 4 meses, é muito tarde para fazer isso com base em exercício! O meu plano é, esta primeira semana habituar-me àdieta, na próxima semana começar a fazer um pouco de exercício - e sim pretendo aumentar o meu input de kcal nos dias que fizer exercício !!!! No próximo sábado, por exemplo, tenho um almoço na casa de uma amiga, então vou ao ginásio de manhã para poder comer um pouco mais ao almoço!
Sobre os carboidratos baixos ... Estou ligeiramente preocupada com isto como em teoria, quando eu parar a dieta e voltar à "vida normal", pode muito bem ser o caso que eu ganhe o peso de volta e ainda mais! O plano a longo prazo é que quando eu parar a dieta mais restrita eu já ter mais juízo e melhor hábitos nas minhas refeições e estar num regime de exercício regular! Talvez dessa forma possa ser desta vez que eu efectivamente vou ter o meu corpo pré-univerisidade de volta!

Last day of no carbs !!! Party!!!! Actually I do have a feeling I'll stick to this low carb days for at least a couple more weeks because now I have thiiiiis :
Último dia sem hidratos!!! Festa!!!! Na verdade, eu tenho um pressentimento que eu vou ficar com este dias de baixo consumo de hidratos por pelo menos mais umas semanas, porque agora a minha compra da myprotein finalmente chegou e eu não posso esperar para experimentar! Espero que valha pena porque foi relativamente caro e se acontecer que eu realmente goste, posso ter aqui apenas a solução para o meu principal problema que é a necessidade de ter o meu arroz e minha massa em praticamente todos as refeições!
Então, o meu almoço hoje parecia praticamente o mesmo que nos dias anteriores! Ainda continua a saberesponder bem por isso não é particularmente difícil! Por volta das 15h eu senti que era altura de comer algo para me manter tarde fora então comi as mini torradas novamente com o meu sumo de fruta!
ATUALIZAÇÃO NA QUESTÃO DA SEDE - parece que quando o corpo começa a usar gordura em vez de glicose para produzir energia - que é a ideia de uma dieta baixa em carboidratos - uma das primeiras coisas que se sente é sede! Sendo assim acho que é uma coisa boa esta sede toda!!!
It finally arrived and I can't wait to try! I hope it's worth it because it was quite expensive and if I happen to actually enjoy it I may have here just the solution for my main problem which the need to have my rice and my pasta at pretty much every single meal!
So, my lunch today looked pretty much the same as previous days ! Still quite enjoy it so not particularly difficult! Around 3pm I felt I could use something to keep me going and had the mini toasts again with my fruit juice!
UPDATE ON THE THIRST ISSUE - so it looks like if your body starts using fat instead of glucose to produce energy - which is kind of the point of a low carbs diet - one of the first things you feel is this! So I guess it is a good thing I'm feeling thirsty!

So thirsty / Tanta sede
I honestly hope it doesn't mean my kidneys are overloaded with protein but I've been soooo thirsty this past 3 days! I drink and I feel the need to drink again in 2 min, so weird! Any ideas why this could be? I'll see if I can find out anything!

Espero que isto não signifique que os meus rins estão sobrecarregados por causa da proteína mas eu tenho tido TANTA sede nos últimos 3 dias. Eu bebo e passado dois minutos já tenho sede de novo. Muito estranho. Alguma ideia do que possa provocar isto? Vou ver o que consigo encontrar !

Day 2 - dinner / Jantar do dia 2
Hey hey!
Another day! Well just the second day but a girl has to keep motivated! Again a pretty hard afternoon! Found out just before dinner it was because I'm pretty stupid sometimes! I was thinking 200kcal per meal as in breakfast, lunch and dinner! Totally forgot I also had 200 extra kcal to eat as a snack !!!! Facepalm! Ended up eating a few toasts again and a small glass of fruit juice to shut my sugar craving!
The "carbs like" sides I've ordered from myprotein haven't arrived yet - I'm dreaming with prawn and fake pasta - but I really wanted prawns tonight so just stir fried them with some olives! Not even 200kcal (180 to be precise) in 150g of prawns and 60g of the olives! Soooo tasty, totally craving killer material!
I think the most difficult thing is how early I have to eat! Not being able to eat after 7pm is a bit difficult particularly as my partner won't get home until around 8pm and will have to cool dinner for him! Anyway just a minor issue! May invest in some jelly to eat while he is having dinner!!

Olá olá!
Mais um! Bem, é só o segundo dia, mas uma rapariga tem que manter-se motivada! Novamente uma tarde muito difícil! Descobri um pouco antes do jantar que isto foi porque eu sou muito estúpida às vezes! Eu estava a pensar 200kcal por refeição como no pequeno almoço, almoço e jantar! Esqueci completamente que também tinha 200 kcal extra para comer como um snack !!!! Facepalm! Acabei por comer novamente tostinhas e beber um pequeno copo de sumo de frutas para resolver o meu desejo de açúcar!
Como os substitutos de acompanhamentos que mandei vir da myprotein ainda não chegaram - estou a morrer por comer uma massa com camarão - mas apetecia-me mesmo muito camarão na mesma, fiz um salteado com azeitonas! Somente 180kcal (150g de camarão e 60g de azeitonas) e estava delicioso, ideal para resolver estes cravings com que ando! Raio da TPM que não passa!
Acho que a parte mais difícil desta dieta vai ser o quão cedo tenho que comer. Não posso comer depois das 19h mas o meu namorado não chega a casa antes das 20h resposta no processo ainda tenho que lhe fazer o jantar! Vou experimentar talvez um dia destes umas gelatinas enquanto ele janta pode ser que resulte!
Day 2 - lunch / Almoço do dia 2
Well a quick summary of last night: I got home near 9:30pm absolutely starving! I ate 4 little toasts with a bit of humus as I had done for the snack and went to bed! I had a lighter sleep than usual but this is not exactly abnormal!
I've weighed myself in the morning - the diet I'm following says that we must weigh ourselves every day to give motivation! Less 0.88lbs than yesterday and I have not even made number 2 yet! I wrote it on the the table I have at the kitchen - to keep me motivated - and ate my usual breakfast! I guess the 3L of water I drank yesterday have helped!
Last night I've discovered in myprotein website several options to substitute rice, pastas and even lasagna with, attention, 7kcal only in 100g! I've ordered it all !!! I'm dying to try! Today's lunch was almost a copy of yesterday's dinner with turkey instead of the chicken! So it'should quite enjoyable to eat and I would hardly say that in this dish there are not even 250kcal!
Hope the afternoon is easier than yesterday's!
Bem então resumo rápido da noite de ontem: cheguei a casa perto das 9h30 absolutamente esfomeada! Comi 4 to atinjas com um bocadinho de húmus como tinha feito ao lanche e fui dormir! Tive um dormir mais leve que o costume mas isso não é propriamente anormal!
Pesei-me de manhã - a dieta que sigo diz que devemos pesar todos os dias para dar motivação ! Menos 400g que ontem e ainda nem fiz número 2! Acho que os 3L de água de ontem estão a fazer efeito! Registei no quadro que tenho ao pé da mesa da cozinha - para me manter motivada - e tomei o pequeno almoço do costume!
Ontem à noite descobri no myprotein várias opções para substituir arroz, massase até lasanha com, atenção, 7kcal apenas em 100g! Mandei vir tudo!!! Estou mortinha por experimentar!
Hoje o almoço foi quase uma cópia do jantar de ontem com Peru em vez do frango! Assim nem custa nada e dificilmente diria que neste prato estão nem 250kcal!
Espero aguentar melhor a tarde do que ontem!
I've weighed myself in the morning - the diet I'm following says that we must weigh ourselves every day to give motivation! Less 0.88lbs than yesterday and I have not even made number 2 yet! I wrote it on the the table I have at the kitchen - to keep me motivated - and ate my usual breakfast! I guess the 3L of water I drank yesterday have helped!
Last night I've discovered in myprotein website several options to substitute rice, pastas and even lasagna with, attention, 7kcal only in 100g! I've ordered it all !!! I'm dying to try! Today's lunch was almost a copy of yesterday's dinner with turkey instead of the chicken! So it'should quite enjoyable to eat and I would hardly say that in this dish there are not even 250kcal!
Hope the afternoon is easier than yesterday's!

Bem então resumo rápido da noite de ontem: cheguei a casa perto das 9h30 absolutamente esfomeada! Comi 4 to atinjas com um bocadinho de húmus como tinha feito ao lanche e fui dormir! Tive um dormir mais leve que o costume mas isso não é propriamente anormal!
Pesei-me de manhã - a dieta que sigo diz que devemos pesar todos os dias para dar motivação ! Menos 400g que ontem e ainda nem fiz número 2! Acho que os 3L de água de ontem estão a fazer efeito! Day 1 - dinner / Jantar do dia 1
This is what a less than 250 kcal meal looks like! Thank God for myprotein! Their amazing bbq crisps are 100kcal being in 25g - 11g of protein and 3.3g of fat (0.3 saturate) and 4.4g carbs! I have to admit this afternoon was HARD WORK.. I could only think of chocolate (that time of the month!!!!) and was starving. I underate at lunch with just over 100kcal can't happen again! As I have my spanish class tonight and can't eat after 7pm then had dinner at 5h45pm - which is a joke really but couldn't break it on my first day ! I was starving anyway so it was actually nice! Let's see how I coop until bed time !
Tenho que admitir que esta tarde foi difícil trabalhar. Eu só pensava em chocolate (aquela altura do mês !!!!) e foi complicadinho. Eu comi menos do que devia ao almoço com pouco mais de 100kcal e isso não pode acontecer novamente! Como tenho a minha aula de espanhol esta noite e não posso comer depois das 7h, tive que jantar às 5h45pm - o que é uma piada mas não podia fazer asneiras logo no meu primeiro dia! Eu estava cheia de fome de qualquer das maneiras portanto até foi agradável ! Vamos ver como me aguento até à hora de dormir!
Day 1 - lunch / Almoço do dia 1
Well so the first 3 days are low carbs days. I'm supposed to have 200kcal per meal but this one actually has just a bit over 100kcal !
Lesson is - grilled prawns with salad doesn't work !!! Will have to find an alternative to eat with the prawns ! They are really low calories which is great but need something to go along that wouldn't taste so terrible - the how prawns kind of cooked the salad ! Will keep you posted !!! On the plus side I love prawns so having an excuse to eat them is pretty cool !!!
As my breakfast hasn't changed - will show it to you tomorrow - I didn't particularly felt hungry through the morning. I guess having 2 pints of water helped !!!
Let's see how the afternoon goes with such a light lunch.

Bem, então os primeiros 3 dias são dias baixos em hidratos de carbono. É suposto comer 200kcal por refeição, mas esta na verdade tem apenas um pouco mais de 100kcal!
A lição é - camarões grelhados com salada não funciona !!! Vou ter que encontrar uma alternativa para comer com os camarões! É um alimento realmente baixo em calorias (e ainda por cima rico em proteínas) o que é excelente, mas precisa de algo para acompanhar que não saiba tão mal - Os camarões quentes cozeram a salada! Eu mantenho-vos atualizados!!! No lado positivo eu adoro camarões por isso ter uma desculpa para os comer é muito agradável!
Como o meu pequeno almoço não mudou - partilho-o amanhã - eu não senti particularmente fome durante a manhã. Suponho que ter 1 litro de água ajudou !!!
Vamos ver como vai correr a tarde depois de um almoço tão leve!!
